Where are They Now?
15 FebruaryThe opportunity came up to read the fascinating Centenary Souvenir Booklet of the Boys' Brigade. It covered the years 1907 to 2007 and prompted the question "what happened?" From the start of the Brigade in 1907 Darvel had significant successes in competitions, trophies, medals and shields. In 2004 Daniel Rafferty won a National BB colouring competition and was invited to Glasgow with OIC Jeanette Gordon to be presented with his prize by Sir Alex Ferguson, Manager of Manchester United and Honourary Vice President of the BB. As late as the Centenary in 2007 the Company followed a programme of events to mark the 100years. There must be a wealth of memories and it would be good to get some feedback, photos and stories. If anyone needs help to download photos etc. give John a ring on 01560 321129 and he will be pleased to help.
The Guides and Boy Scouts are still running in The Town and it is sad that such a worthy and fun organisation petered out.
