  • A new project is set to improve water supplies to Darvel

Scottish Water is about to embark on an £850,000 project to improve water supplies to Darvel and Newmilns.

30 miles of water main pipework will be upgraded to provide a better quality of drinking water - and the A71 may require periods of traffic control and possible isolation of water supplies, although contractors aim to keep disruption to a minimum.

Scottish Water has invested greatly in improving supplies across Scotland having invested £162m since 2006 in Ayrshire.
