Darvel Improvement Group's Homecoming Cafe Day a wonderful success

On Saturday the 13th of June our Town Square was turned into a colourful and busy open air cafe, and the weather played along!

The day had a "Homecoming" Robert Burns theme, and apart from the wonderful home baking and brilliant service by hard working volunteers, everyone enjoyed browsing and shopping around the great variety of local stalls. Darvel Primary pupils impressed with their recipe book and poetry recitals, and folk duo Jocelyn and Raymond Tully performed Burns songs.

A big thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the day such a huge success.

Many many thanks to all of you who turned up and made for a succesful Cafe Day. It is good for the morale of DIG members and other volunteers and helpers to see so many people of all age groups getting together for a blether, cuppa and a wee snachter. Thanks also to the entertainers who added that bit extra to the day. Hope to see you all again next year.

Congratulations to everyone involved - it looked like a fantastic day. I'm really disappointed I missed it. Fingers crossed that the weather will be as good next year!

If anyone else missed the Day we must offer one of the major recipes from the Primary School Recipe book:
AYRSHIRE MILK
1 field of Ayrshire grass
1 Ayrshire cow
Take cow to field. Add the grass to cow and then wait 8 hours. Remove the contents of cow's udder and add to glass. Chill for two hours. Serve immediately. Garnish with red and white straw (if desired).
VARIATIONS:
Low fat Milk - Cut grass to half length, then add cow
Vegetarian - Remove insects and other forms of life from the grass, cow may still be used
Vegan - As vegetarian but use synthetic cow
Yoghurt - Shake cow before emptying
Hot Milk - Bake grass then add cow
NOTE:- Serve with a large chocolate biscuit.

This innovative creation was entered into the book by-
Cameron McColl P4 room 7.
Congratulations Gordon Ramsey watch out!
