DARVEL 'FOUR' SEASONS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2010

New Show just announced . As part of the Darvel Music Company's commitment to help raise funds for the town's gala day, two additional concerts have been confirmed for June. The first show on Friday, June 11 will feature the brilliant soul sounds of Counselled Out, and on Saturday, June 12, a tremendous line-up of Scotland's finest new bands, when Attic Lights, A Band Called Quinn, the La Fontaines and the Rudiments will take to the stage. This particular show is being funded through the Scottish Arts Council's, Youth Music Initiative. Both Darvel Music Company and Andely Wine Store will give a financial contribution from the concert raffle and bar proceeds. Counselled Out have a tremendous following in Ayrshire and the Saturday line up will appeal particularly to the young folk

Tickets, priced £12.50 each, go on sale for the new concerts on 1 March 2010. If the Darvel & District Community Council receive the public's support and raise enough funds then more 'live' music will be provided as part of the gala day entertainment programme on Saturday 19 June at Morton Park.

OLL says

The meeting in the lower Town hall on Monday March 1st started at 7.30pm.
Frank Donnelly chaired the meeting and outlined the difficulties in obtaining funding. Quite simply if the applications for support did not bear fruit the Gala would need to operate on a much smaller scale. Options for possible savings were discussed and contingencies were put in place. The meeting felt that we should continue to plan activity with a positive view. Councillor McDill gave a basic outline of the form the procession would take and it was agreed after discussion that a shorter route would be preferable as a lot of children would be walking. Frank Donnelly confirmed that the Pipe Band and the Brass Band had been booked. 11 stalls had been booked and contact was being made with bouncy castle, hamburger stalls etc. The Duck Egg race would be run on the day by Katie Allen. Mike Duffy confirmed that toilets had been ordered and John Oliver agreed to lead the procession carrying the Darvel Bell. The Beer Tent was confirmed and the dresses for the Queen and attendants were in hand. Next meeting would be on Monday March 29. All interested parties will be welcome.
